Better Together: Hot Cakes & Hot Topics for Couples

In designing this workshop we've had couples with young children in mind, but we think couples in all stages of marriage will find something helpful from our day together. It starts with a pancake breakfast, includes a catered lunch, and a companion program for up to 30 children on-site. Couples get to spend some time with their partners remembering why they fell in love, listen in on a panel discussion about the joys and challenges of sex throughout various stages of marriage, and participate in breakout sessions on topics like navigating family and career, interracial couples, and the theology of parenting. We'll end with time for some contemplative worship and prayer.

COST: $40/couple, plus childcare costs ($25/child with a $50 family cap).

What does my registration fee cover?

We're just trying to break even on this event, so we've priced it to cover costs.

What if we can't afford the full registration fees?

Go ahead and register any way so we have your information. Register by selecting the "Pay What You Can" ticket option and pay what you can.

What if we would like to bless another couple by helping pay their registration fees?

How lovely. Register yourselves and then select the "Donation Toward Scholarships" ticket option to contribute toward a scholarship fund.

What if I have, or my child has, a food allergy or special diet?

Please indicate this when you register and we will do our best to accommodate you. You can also contact Kim Messenger directly if you have specific concerns.

What will the children's day be like?

Children begin the day with their parents for the pancake breakfast. Babies and young toddlers will be looked after by childcare workers. Preschoolers and older children will follow a Noah's Ark themed program with a treaure hunt, storytelling, creativity stations, and some outdoor play on the playground if the weather cooperates. They'll have morning and afternoon snacks and lunch (likely pizza) delivered to their rooms. All childcare workers--paid and volunteer--will have been background checked, and we'll have a system in place should they need to page you during the event.

What if my child needs a nap or needs to nurse during the program?

We want to give couples, especially couples with young children, total freedom to do what they need to without any guilt. So if you need to leave after lunch for naptime--total freedom. If you need to visit your child during the program to nurse, feel free to pop over to the Ministry Center and pop back. It won't register as a disruption at all.
